For more than 20 years Eddie has been a guide for me and many of my friends. We have traveled all over Indonesia and had so many positive and interesting experiences on all trips.
From north to south on Sulawesi – snorkelling and living on the Togian archipelago – visited the ethnic group living in the Tanja Toraya area where we were for wedding and later on another trip to the funeral where water buffaloes and other animals were sacrificed. It was a special experience, but it gave us knowledge of this people’s way of life. The scenery in this area is magnificent with high mountains beautiful rice fields and not far from there the most beautiful waterfall.
Another trip went from Bali to Flores. First around lovely Bali from there the Gili Islands and Lombok. We sailed along the Sumba Islands to Komodo where we greeted the Varans – from there to Flores where we stayed at Kilimuto and on to Maumere. Along the way, we passed the most beautiful mountains and volcanoes and visited several ethnic groups in their villages. One trip went to Java and Borneo we met with Eddie in Jakarta and drove by car to Bandung and further down through Java to Borobudur and from Semarang we flew to Borneo.
On java we visited the Village where Eddie has grown We had the wonderful experience of greeting his family. At Borneo, we lived on a houseboat and sailed on the river Kumai, where we visited the Orangutang center and saw the nose monkeys cheer in the wooden crowns along the riverbank.
Later on this trip, we visited the Dayaks in their longhouse – also a good and special experience.
One of the highlights of these trips was when a few years ago I was at West Papua where we were with the Dani people living in the mountains of the Balim Valley. We spent a whole day in a “native” village and experienced the very special way of life of this ethnic group. The men go with penis futterals and the women with grass skirts and bare upper body. This group was first discovered in 1938. We were around the area at Yayapura which is the capital of this region. The town is so beautifully located by the bay of Hombolt. The area is nice and interesting, with many World War II landmarks.
I have been on more trips than mentioned above, Eddie has been a guide for us on all trips. All have worked in the very best way. We have fully enjoyed the magnificent scenery and snorkeling on the most beautiful coral reefs.
In Eddie we have a guide that makes sure each participant is well within the group. He is skilled and knowledgeable and so he is always in a good mood. We have all felt safe and comfortable in his company.
My friends use him again and again.
I have known Eddie for more than 20 years. That relationship has developed into Eddie- his wife Meiske and their 3 children being my Family in Indonesia. They all take good care of me when I spend a few months every year out there.
I can highly recommend him as a guide- There is no better.
